The lake “Lac du Bouchet” is a circular lake of volcanic origin located in the Haute-Loire department in Auvergne, in the municipalities of Cayres and Le Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas. More precisely, it is in the Devès massif (1 421 m) between the rivers Loire and Allier, 25 km from Le Puy-en-Velay. The lake Lac du Bouchet has been a listed site since 21st of September 1950. Since 1863, the lake has been owned by the department of Haute-Loire and managed in conjunction with the National Forestry Office.
